Instead of just rows of seats facing a stage, The Theatre was designed to be an immersive, sensory experience. The seating wraps around the circular stage, affording good sightlines from any seat. Celebrity put all the latest technological bells and whistles into this venue, and the elaborate productions don’t hold back in showing it off. The backdrop is projected onto giant moving screens, stage platforms and staircases rotate, the stage is rigged for acrobatics. No expense was spared in the lighting, sound, and size of the cast. If you only do one specialty restaurant on Edge, please do Eden. The menu was incredibly similar to Chops on Royal Caribbean, which we have enjoyed thoroughly in the past. The restaurant opens to the Grand Plaza area but lacks a little ambiance. We were mid-ship on Deck 10, which proved to be a great location, and the cabin was thoughtfully designed.

It will be interesting to see how dated the ship will look in another five years, as modern design changes rather quickly. On my previous cruise on Celebrity Equinox, I had excellent wait staff in the main dining room, and toward the end of the cruise, they knew my tastes and preferences and made excellent recommendations for food and wine. I was also impressed with the food, including a a mouth watering beef tenderloin in pastry.
Arrivals and departures are staggered; passengers can choose their time slot. Given the small size of their two fitness studios, Edge is aiming for private sessions rather than group classes. The generic daily class (yoga, HIIT, spin) cost a reasonable fee, and every day there is usually one free gym class and short health/wellness seminar. The studio is equipped for LIT Bungee Fit, barre, and cardio boxing.
Celebrity Edge is a different ship from the rest of the Celebrity Cruises fleet and was designed to attract people who have never cruised before. Celebrity typically draws middle- and upper-class folks in their mid-40s and older. During school holidays, the line's ships usually see a number of families with children, and the same may occur on Celebrity Edge (although the ship was not designed with families in mind). And the Celebrity Edge Magic Carpet isn't just a tender platform. It can be positioned on Decks 5 and 14, where it serves as an eatery or bar.
Evolving with the times, formal nights on Celebrity have been rebranded “Evening Chic,” a less stuffy approach than jacket and tie. Guests are encouraged to instead get “glamorous, chic and sophisticated.” For men, blazers or sport coats are optional; most choose dress pants and dress shirt, button-down shirts or dress sweater. Women can opt for formal or cocktail dresses, but it is acceptable to wear skirt, pants, or designer jeans with an elegant top.
Dining under the stars is always magical, and the Magic Carpet delivers. The Magic Carpet is open as a restaurant or just as a bar, and to experience its different positions as it ascends the side of the ship while you dine or tipple is great fun. AquaClass guests have their own restaurant serving healthier fare, as do suite guests in The Retreat, both of which are included in the rate for those passengers. It’s the buffet, but it has a back patio terrace that seems like you’re on a private yacht with only a few tables. For Edge’s ship-within-a-ship concept, top stateroom categories have their own exclusive restaurants serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The result is a beautiful presentation, and you’ll be spoiled with intimate, personalized service.
